5 Quick & Easy Ways to Boost Student Productivity in Your School

As a school principal, you are always looking for ways to boost student productivity. After all, productive students are more likely to succeed in school and in life. There are many factors that can influence student productivity, but there are a few simple things you can do to make a big impact.

Here are five quick and easy ways to boost student productivity in your school.

  1. Make healthy food and drinks easily accessible

What we eat and drink affects our energy levels and how we feel throughout the day. If your students are eating unhealthy junk food, they are not going to be as productive as they could be. Make sure healthy snacks and drinks are available for your students throughout the day so they can refuel their bodies and minds. Water coolers for schools are a great way to make sure everyone has access to fresh, cold water throughout the day.

  1. Encourage movement and physical activity

Physical activity has been shown to increase blood flow to the brain, which in turn boosts cognitive function. In other words, getting your students up and moving will help them think better and be more productive. You can encourage movement and physical activity in your school by installing standing desks, having students take walking breaks between classes, or holding impromptu dance parties in the hallway (just make sure to supervise!).

  1. Implement a "no screens during school hours" policy

We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with notifications and distractions from our devices. It can be hard for students to stay focused when they have their phones with them at all times. One way to combat this is to implement a "no screens during school hours" policy. This means that students must put away their phones and other devices during the school day so they can focus on their studies. You can make exceptions for using devices in class if it is part of an educational exercise, but otherwise, phones should be out of sight and out of mind.

  1. Promote collaboration over competition

Students who feel like they're in constant competition with their classmates may feel stressed and anxious, which can negatively affect their productivity levels. Instead of promoting competition, try to promote collaboration among your students. Encourage them to work together on projects, share ideas with each other, and help each other out when needed. When students feel like they're part of a supportive community, they'll be more likely to succeed (and be less stressed!).
